WHAT TO DO & WHERE TO GO

Cumbria has much to offer the holidaymaker.

Kendal is the ‘Gateway to the Lakes’. The area is easily accessed by the M6.

Here boats can be hired and the ferry across to the other side of the lake.

Ambleside is an attractive town – a good walk from here is to Stock Ghyll Force.

A visit to the area is not complete without stopping at the village of Grasmere, where William Wordsworth lived.

Coniston Water is then another lake to explore. Hawkshead is another interesting village with its patchwork of cottages backed by woods and fells.

Keswick stands on the shores of Derwent Water. Keswick is a bustling town with many shops catering for the outdoor life.
